About
Wherever we go, whenever a group of people get together, we will always be in the presence of diversity. Be it on the basis of career choices, family background, preferences (music, food, clothing, movies) or moral standards – we are all different.
MUSAIC is all about acknowledging, appreciating and addressing these differences on two levels:
First, everyone is relatively situated in relation to Jesus Christ. Some are farther away and some are very close to Him, as illustrated in a continuum.
But regardless of one’s position in relation to Jesus Christ, we are all commanded to draw ever so closer to Him (Matthew 22:37). Our task as a Worship Minister is to create an atmosphere where the Spirit can meet with them and draw them closer to Jesus Christ, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey – in a life of rebellion, apathy to spiritual matters or in complete submission to His will. MUSAIC is about finding ways we can create that atmosphere so people will be receptive to the work of the Spirit. In reality, some will be drawn, some will be resisting. It’s His work, we only work with Him. (John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him…John 12:32 “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.”)
But if there will be any drawing of any person to Christ, we – ministers – should be of one mind and purpose. This is the second level. The Worship Ministry is one, if not the most, diverse ministry in the churches today. Not only is it composed of sub-ministries (band, choir, backup singers, technical people, etc) but of multi-talented and gifted people doing multi-tasking. And if we are to be God’s instrument in His work of drawing people to Christ, we need to be of one mind and purpose. This is the challenge that confronts us, but one that is necessary so we continue to be dependent on Him who alone can draw us all to Himself.
