RATIONALE:

MUSAIC 2008 – a Worship and Music Festival – is a project of Windsong Christian Music Ministries, Inc. in partnership with Salt & Light TPLR Foundation, Inc. It seeks to establish worship in the context of the Filipino experience. Filipino Christians love singing worship songs, but we often have a difficult time looking for songs that express our unique Christian experience. This project is not a call to turn our backs on what God has already given to us as a worshiping Church; rather, it is a rallying point to challenge the Filipino Church to start giving back as well.

The Music Festival in MUSAIC 2008 is a venue where we as a Filipino Church can begin sharing first with one another and then, God-willing, to the world-wide Body of Christ, our unique experience with God as expressed through songs. We are looking for songs that embody the heart of a Filipino Christian in worship. A maximum of 12 songs will be selected by a panel chosen by Windsong and will be featured in the Music Festival, August 08. This Music Festival is open to all Christian songwriters who are active church members.

GUIDELINES FOR SONGWRITERS:

1. You may submit a maximum of five (5) songs.
2. You may write your song in any genre except C&W (country and western).
3. Your song must be in Filipino or English.
4. Your song can be slow, medium or fast and appropriate for congregational worship.
5. Your song must follow the theme “Diverse People, United Worship.”
6. Your song must have a maximum length of 5 minutes.
7. Your song must have never been recorded publicly and released commercially.
8. Each song will be evaluated according to the following:

• Originality and Creativity
• Lyrics
• Melody
• Overall appeal

9. Your song will undergo a strict selection process. Songs not selected for the Music Festival will be returned to its owner.
10. If your song is selected, it will become part of the Music Festival and of the CD album. The organizers reserve the right to rearrange the selected songs and choose and assign interpreters for the Music Festival and for the album recording of the songs.
11. If your song is selected, it will automatically be considered property of Windsong Christian Music Ministries, Inc.
12. The decision of the selection board is final.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:

Submitting a CD:

1. To submit a CD, each contributor should do the following:

Place the following items in a SHORT brown envelope:

a. Two (2) copies of the CD containing the songs

On the CD case, write the following:

• Name of Contributor (LAST NAME, FIRST NAME, MIDDLE INITIAL)
• Name of church (where you are a member)
• No. of Songs
• Song Titles and Length of Song

Example:

On the CD, write the following:

• Name of Contributor (LAST NAME and then FIRST NAME)
• Name of church (where you are a member)
• No. of Songs

b. Five (5) copies of the lyrics of the song/s with chords (1 page per song) OR musical pieces (per song) which contains the lyrics of the song and the arrangement. (1 original and 4 copies)

c. One (1) 2 x 2 B &W/Colored recent photo of the contributor

d. A short type-written PERSONAL INFORMATION SHEET containing the following:

• FULL NAME (Last name, First name, Middle initial)
• GENDER
• AGE
• MOBILE NO.
• LANDLINE NO.
• E-MAIL ADDRESS
• HOME ADDRESS complete with POSTAL ZIP CODE
• NAME OF HOME CHURCH (Where you are presently an active member)
• ADDRESS OF HOME CHURCH
• NAME OF SENIOR PASTOR AND HIS CELL/CONTACT #.

3. Make sure your package arrives at the Windsong office on or before 11:59pm, June 20, 2008.

4. An acknowledgement letter via e-mail or by mail will be sent to the contributor upon receipt of the submitted songs.

5. Writers of all selected songs will be notified by E-mail, SMS and a phone call.

6. Please make sure you send a good quality recording of your song so that the lyrics and accompaniment will be clearly heard and easily understood by the panel during the selection process.

Submitting an MP3:

1. To submit an MP3, each contributor should do the following:

a. One (1) file of the song in MP3 format

In the Email, write the following:

• No. of Songs
• Song Titles and Length of Song

b. A Word .doc file of the lyrics of the song/s with chords (1 page per song) OR a .pdf file of the musical pieces (per song) which contains the lyrics of the song and the arrangement. Make sure you use Arial font, size 14 for the Word .doc file.
